Celebrated every November, National Family Caregiver Appreciation Month is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. It offers an opportunity to raise awareness of caregiving issues, educate communities, and increase support for caregivers. As America’s greyest state, Florida is home to approximately 2.9 million family caregivers, who provide an estimated 2.4 billion hours of care annually. This makes National Family Caregiver Appreciation Month especially relevant here in the Sunshine State, and the Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) extends its sincerest gratitude to these outstanding individuals for their tireless service to those they love.
This November, the DeSantis administration issued a proclamation in recognition of Florida Family Caregiver Month. The Department of Elder Affairs is proud to support Florida’s family caregivers year-round through its administration of the National Family Caregiver Support Program, the Respite for Elders Living in Everyday Families (RELIEF) Program, and the Home Care for the Elderly Program.
